- Your Journey - Lobster Shack in Cervantes Art Therapy
On 21-23 August as a group we packed the car and headed for an all-inclusive 3 day / 2 night road trip staying in Ledge Point. On the way we visited the Pinnacles followed by lunch at the Lobster Shack in Cervantes finally checking into our beautiful home in Ledge Point. Then it was time for some Art Therapy and games as we prepare dinner. During the trip we experience laughter yoga, explored Lancelin and had dinner out at the local golf course in Ledge Point. Then wrapping the night up with a game of pool and darts. Overall a hit and a lot of fun. We are looking forward to arranging the next STA/Respite getaway. - Changes to the NDIS Legislation
On the 22nd of August 2024 the NDIS (getting the NDIS back on track) Bill was passed by parliament. Nothing changes for the moment, until the Governor General accepts the new bill, which will be some time in September. After this the NDIS will start implementing the changes on: · How you get onto the Scheme · What supports can be funded by the NDIS · Who can and how plans are managed · How the funding you receive is spent, which could mean you will have an allocated budget for 12 months and cannot spend more than that portion. (You may have already seen this on your new PACE plan). Some of the new rules will start immediately after the law comes into effect, others will be transitional and not become law for another 12 months. The NDIS is assuring participants that they will be consulted and given assistance while these changes are being implemented. If you would like to have a say and be part of how the changes take place, get involved here. Participant First When the changes start happening and you feel that the NDIS has got it wrong, then you may wish to challenge it. Having an advocate in your corner, is a step in the right direction.
