About the Course
Rotto Short-Term Respite (STR)
Take a Break from Your Usual Routine with a Supported Stay on Rottnest Island
Looking for an opportunity to spend time in a different environment while continuing to receive the support you need?
Our Rotto Short-Term Respite (STR) offers participants a supported overnight stay on Rottnest Island (Wadjemup), providing time away from their usual support arrangements in a safe and welcoming and setting.
Whether you're looking to connect with others or simply spend time in a different environment, our experienced team is here to support you throughout your stay.
What is Short-Term Respite (STR)?
Short-Term Respite (STR) is an NDIS-funded support that allows participants to spend time away from their primary informal supports, such as family members or carers, while continuing to receive the disability-related support they need.
STR also provides primary informal supports with a short break from their usual caring responsibilities, helping to sustain ongoing support arrangements.
NDIS funding may support eligible participants to access STR for up to 14 days at a time and up to 28 days per year, depending on individual circumstances and plan funding.
What to Expect During Your Stay
Our Rotto STR stays are designed to provide a supportive and comfortable environment where participants can:
Spend time away from their usual routines
Connect with other participants
Participate in social and community-based activities
Continue receiving support with daily living and personal care needs
Access support tailored to their individual requirements
Welcoming environment with experienced support staff
Every participant is different, which is why we work closely with participants, families, support coordinators, and support networks to ensure the stay is suitable for individual needs and goals.
Who May Benefit from STR?
STR may be suitable for participants who:
Receive significant support from family members or other informal supports
Would benefit from spending time away from their usual support arrangements
Require support to continue daily activities while informal supports take a short break
Enjoy opportunities for social connection and community participation
Have STR funding included in their NDIS plan
If you're unsure whether STR is suitable for you, our team can help you understand your options and discuss your support needs.
